Niche Market Research - For Online Marketer
There are couple of same steps you will always have to repeat when working performing your niche market research…It is to select BROAD market first, narrow it down to “niche” and build a landing page!
How do you Select Broad Market First?
The best advice I can give you is to take a piece of paper and a pen. Write down all the things you are good at or enjoy. It does not mater what those are, you might be a good at saving money, you might be a great parent, good at PHP design, personal trainer at the gym, or you are into a hobby such as golfing or real estate investing.
It does not matter what they are but you just need have some (interest area). Now there is a good change there is a group of people who have that same interest.
Narrow a Niche
As you have broad market, lets say GOLF for example. There are many sub niches but the one you are looking for is the niche of people who have problems. So in golfing industry what is their problem.
One way to look at the problem is by going to Google and in search engine type in Golfing + Forum.
Your job is to search for list of problems they have. Now you are looking for something that is like a big problem and often they have to spend money on fixing it.
By browsing just few forums I can see they are all trying to improve their game! So this is a big issue and they will always want to do that!
Once You Know Who They Are and What They Need, it really is easy to sell them something. After all you are not selling them something they DON’T need but something they do!
Here is a second way to do your niche research!
Free One Way Backlinks - Detailed Tutorial
Now your content can really be GOLD but if you are not on the first page of Google, you will be hard to find. Backlinking is the key for sure and here is a tutorial on getting Free One Way Backlinks!
Now if you are done with On Page optimization your backlinking is the next step.
Over the years we have tried many, many paid and free backlink methods. While some paid methods are faster, the free methods can still be very effective!
So here are some methods you can try!
Writing Articles To Get Free Quality Backlinks
You can write relevant content for your niche and post it in free article directories. This way you get traffic as well as the links.
Our favorite directory is the ezinearticles.com.
When we find a keyword we like, we write 2 articles per each keywords. We post 1 article in one directory, the second article in second directory. This way we get 2 articles to rank high in Google.
So if we write 50 original articles we end up having 100 out there!
Article writing can take time but you can shorten that time with very cheap tool called 1 Min. Content Tool OR you can outsource this task to others. Some articles cost as low as 3 dollar per 350 word article! But, if you have funds available, you can easily outsource this part of the work.
All your articles should point to your website by using your keywords as anchor text. This way your original webpage you are trying to rank higher will rank very, very HIGH!
Keep in mind, that your articles should also have backlinks to them as well adn you should try to get link juice from posting in blog comments and doing some social bookmarking.
Just know that there is a difference. If you get a link back from “no follow” blog, your ranking will suffer. So you will be searching ONLY for do follow blogs.
Backlinks from Blogs!
In Name field you will enter your main keywords. In the e-mail your e-mail, and in URL, the page you are trying to rank for!
Write a very good blog comment and you will get that back link approved and probably even some traffic from it!
You can even use Comment Kahuna to get some backlinks as well, it is a free software and it helps automate the process a little!
Also one more way to find blogs is to go to directories such as blog catalog and search for relevant blogs!
When you comment to get backlinks to your site, you should focus on high PR blogs, so you get more value from each of your comments.
Social Bookmarking Backlinks
These backlinks are easiest to get, although they still require some work to get done.
Most people use SocialMarker.com for posting social bookmarks. This is a service that bookmarks your links semi-automatically. Sadly, it still takes so much time.
A paid, yet really cheap and super time saving option is to get the Onlywire service. It costs just about $2-3 per month, but when you enter all your login details for the first time, it takes you no more than 20 seconds to bookmark one link on like 30+ social bookmarking sites.
HUGE time saver!
You can also sign up for free traffic system. It really is powerful and free. Gives you 30 backlinks per article spinned. Since it is free, it works!

How to Do Off Page Optimization
Now there are many, many arguments over this, but fact is, when you do on page optimization you are only 30% done, and your off page optimization is 10 times more important!
What is an off page optimization. Basically getting many one way back links to your site. These back links should not be from any pages. For example if your site is about dogs, and you link from an affiliate marketing site, the link does not count!
It is also important to get those links from High Page Ranks Sites, to get better results with your off page optimization. To see which sites have high PR (page Rank) you can use free software called (SEO)
However, if you site is about dogs and you link from cat site, it will be relevent.
Also, link back should NOT be raw link, such as http://urldomain.com it should be anchored text link linking back to your own site.
For example if you are trying to rank for keywords such as “Buy Beagle Dog” your links should look like this: Buy Beagle Dog! When you link with your keywords it is called Anchored text.
One more thing, your site will have multiple pages. So your buy beagle dog is page one, buy beagle puppy might be a second one, or buy beagle food, might be a third one! Each page needs to have on page optimization for those selected keywords as well as teh off page optimization!
Getting sites to link back to your site is not easy but there are things you can do to actually link back to your own site such as write articles, post comments on blogs, post treads in forums, get onto social bookmarking sites, get article spinners, and you can even outsource this service to others! We have another post on getting backlinks.
But this concludes our off page optimization. It is important to get them from niche relevant sites as well as the HIGH PR sites!
How to Do On Page Keyword Optimization
It is really hard to explain each aspect of SEO, but for sure we can give you the basics on how to do your on page keyword optimization!
Lets look at this post right here! It was the first post on our blog! We wanted to optimize for keywords that included affiliate campaign, and set up an affiliate campaign. So we are basically doing 2 on page optimizations in one.
We wanted to have 1-3% keyword density on our main page. So we placed keyword first of all in title, second in the first paragraph. We have a preference on the second or 3rd sentence of the first paragraph. We also placed those same keywords in the middle of the text and at the bottom in the last paragraph!
The first and the second paragraphs are important because Google will catch these in their results so you want your paragraphs to show these sentences.
So taking our URL:
http://afftricks.com/blog/1/set-up-an-affiliate-campaign/
We went to the Free Keyword Density Tool and plugged in the URL. We asked to have ONLY 5 results displayed for the top density and we had these result:
As you can see, the results showed that we had keyword density for affiliate campaign at 1.68 and set up an 1.51 which means that we can probably rank on first page of Google easily with our article!
That is all for on page keyword optimization, now we will move to the off page keyword optimization!
One Way To Set Up an Affiliate Campaign - Part 1
Ok. the simple fact is, there are MANY ways to set up an affiliate campaign, and that is why most people jump from one set up to the next one. So we will share with you 3 ways to set up an affiliate campaign.
For most people working in steps is so much easier so here is the layout!
- Choose a Niche
- Select Products to Promote
- Create Landing Page
- Create Targeted Traffic Generators
Ok, so first things first.
How do You Choose a Niche!
If you fail on this first part your whole campaign will fail! It might sound harsh BUT that is the reality!
Definition of the niche is very simple! Group of people with a common problem! Please pay close attention to that sentence! You see! If you want to profit from a niche you have to know exactly who they are and what their problem is!
For example: An affiliate Marketer in Need of Traffic! A New Mom Wanting to Lose Weight, An Article Marketer Wanting to Rank His or Her’s Articles on Google First Page!
So when you know Who they are! What their problem is, you can easily find a product to promote to them! For example…An article marketer needs backlinks in order to be on the Google’s First Page!
So what do you promote? Some type of backlinking service or software!
Now…What most newbies do is actually select a broad niche and they fail because of it!
We have a post only on Niche Research… Let’s try to keep this post on Setting Up an Affiliate Campaign!
When YOU know who your audience is, it really is easy to set up an affiliate campaign!
Now there are multiple ways to promote that particular product but here we will share one way!
Build a landing page. This landing page can be a review site such as 3 best ways to get backlinks to Rank Your Articles Higher In Google! (Do YOUR Keyword Research)
On this review site you need to list 3 soft wares or services that can really rank the articles higher. Give an explanation on each!
Now it is good to have some proof if you can get your hands on it, to show people how to use this service!
Side Note: If you are on a low budget you do not have to have a website built, you can do so with squidoo pages or hub pages until you get some money going!
Write 30 articles based on your niche interests. Such as, how to make your article content sound great, how to generate ideas for articles, how to write powerful articles fast etc.
Each of these articles again has to have its keyword research done! Each page has to be optimized for keywords “On Page” and “Off Page” optimization!
Submit these articles to multiple Article Directories and even your own blog linking back to the landing page! Get back links to each page manually ranking each article as well as your landing page HIGHER!
When you set up your campaign this way you will have traffic to your articles, and articles will drive traffic to your landing page. But in return, since your articles give your landing page back links, you end up ranking your “check out page” very high in Google!
Best,
Ivana and Alex
